Getting all the family together is nowadays a major logistical process and, inevitably, involves some temporal slippage from the event we are trying to celebrate. So, it was an achievement to have a party for Sheila’s 65th birthday (and my 64th!) relatively close to the date it happened. Danae and Nathan were the hosts and produced a wonderful lunch of mackerel salad and roast chicken amongst many other dishes – including marzipan cupcakes.
Of course, the Queen had to muscle in with the Trooping of the Colour – her “official” birthday this year although her real one is 23rd. April!
